Public Relations and Marketing

publicMarketing your business is essential for acquiring new customers (constant growth) and for retaining current customers. Of course, without customers, your business won’t survive long. You don’t just do one marketing campaign and consider your marketing responsibilities completed. Marketing is an ongoing part of your business responsibilities for the entirety of the business. Marketing is something that you must learn to do successfully or must be willing and able to hire a marketing specialist to do it for you. It can’t be emphasized enough that your business will not survive without consistent marketing.

You may think of marketing your business as doing nothing more than just having business cards and brochures printed and occasionally passing them out. Often, marketing is confused with advertising. But marketing is much more and you need to create a detailed marketing plan in order to constantly market your business.

You will market your business based on who will want to buy your products or services. Consider the demographics: age, sex, profession, income level, education level, married or single, children or not, etc. Match your business to a particular demographic and market to that sector of society. Marketing dollars and time will serve you well if you market to a targeted group, rather than a generic group.
