Health Insurance and You
There is so much controversy today leading the way for changes in how we perceive health insurance. There are so many disturbances at the moment that no one is quite sure where or when it will begin to unfold. The mass population is trying to sit tight, but with each passing day more individuals, families are losing their jobs, and therefore they are also losing their medical insurance.
This is also true for the small businesses, sole proprietors, and freelance entrepreneurs as well. How does one even stand a chance of maintaining health coverage for themselves and their family members when employment is at an all time high of over ten percent or sixteen million individuals floundering?
Medical insurance at one time was synonymous with employment and is one of the main reasons why individuals left their homes to become in the employ of the larger corporations. Complete comprehensive medical insurance was once a staple and many employees found this very attractive especially after World War II when all the military personal were returning home.
Many employers were offering comprehensive and affordable health insurance to the returning soldiers in lieu of higher pay for services rendered. If the times were different perhaps this would never happen, but with the government encouraging low wages the unions rose to the forefront and bartered for a few company benefits such as low cost health insurance.
1. Coverage for hospitalization and medical office visits
2. Comprehensive coverage for catastrophic entities
3. Inpatient Surgery
4. Outpatient Surgery
5. Emergency Room service and evaluation
6. Dental coverage
7. Coverage for prescription drugs
Time was passing and as younger individuals entered the work force medical coverage became expected. The small business entrepreneur, sole proprietor, and freelance entrepreneur are an independent group of individuals and chose a different path. Yet to find a comprehensive insurance policy became a difficult task.
We can explain how today, with all the changes that are occurring the mass population is about to find out how difficult it has become to find comprehensive and affordable medical coverage without relying upon an employer. Health care has come full circle and yet everyone is still in doubt as to how this will all play out.
One interesting factor that no one has been talking about is how this will affect all those who are in employ through an employer. Will the employer now cause raises in all employees’ salaries to compensate for the lost medical coverage?
